As of 6th June the Urgent Clinic will become the “MEDICAL EMERGENCY CLINIC” and only genuine medical emergencies will be seen. There will only be one doctor manning the clinic so that we can release more routine appointments with other doctors. An audit of the Urgent Clinic revealed that 54% of the attendances were not medical emergencies and were in fact inappropriate.
Although we anticipate this may cause some inconvenience to some of our patients in the first instance, we are sure that most patients will be pleased with the improvement in routine appointments availability and will appreciate the fact the services are used appropriately.
We would like to ask all patients assist both the reception and clinical team in making these changes beneficial to all our patients.
