Cancer screening

Screenings are to prevent cancers or detect early signs of cancers, in people that do not have any symptoms.

If you have symptoms that you are worried could be related to a cancer (red flags), you should call our medical emergency clinic.

Red flags

It's important to be aware of any new or worrying symptoms.

Although it's unlikely to be cancer, it's important to speak to a GP so they can investigate. Finding cancer early means it's easier to treat.

Please see which symptoms could be concerning https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cancer/symptoms/

Please note that we have been open during the pandemic and continue to be open

Cervical screening

  • Cervical screening is offered to all women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 to check the health of cells in the cervix.
  • Cervical screening (a smear test) checks the health of your cervix. The cervix is the opening to your womb from your vagina.
  • It's not a test for cancer, it's a test to help prevent cancer.
  • If you have questions or concerns about this test, you can book a telephone consultation with our nurse and you can see this video

It is not always easy to make time for a screening, but our practice nurse offers appointments on Thursday evenings and we can also book you in the cervical Screening Clinics in Extended Hours – Sat 1pm – 5pm @ Westbourne Green Surgery & Sun 9am – 1pm @ Connaught Square Practice
